Trinity Cross Country Teams Back In Action at UIW Twilight

SAN ANTONIO, TX - After a successful debut season in the SAA, which saw both the men's and women's teams win the conference and both dethroning Berry in the process, UIW Twilight will offer a fresh look at the returning conference champions on a familiar stomping ground. Returning to the meet for the 7th year running, the Tigers will face off against multiple D1 schools.

Leading them on the women's side will be returning senior Gianna Keena (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis), hoping to improve on a team-best 14:21.5 from the previous season. Joining her will be the full suite of runners from the previous season, hoping to repeat the level of performance that saw them take 4th in the West Region and qualify for Nationals, notching their first appearance as a team since 2017.

With a largely unchanged squad, they will look to improve their team average 4k time of 14:45 from the year prior and start their campaign off strong, seeking to build an early case for a return bid to Nationals. With pre-season rankings placing them at 21st in the nation, the Tigers will look to send a strong message early in the season.

The men's side will be finding new footing on familiar ground at Twilight; after losing 4 seniors from the previous year's top 7, the Tigers will be looking to leverage their strong depth to find a new scoring core and justify their best in Conference ranking.

Sophomores Eli Bliss (Garden Ridge, Texas / Davenport) and George Mikhael (Livermore, Calif. / Granada) will have their gaze set on leading the team to improve on its average time of 19:16 in the Twilight 6k from the year prior. While the Tigers may be missing personnel from the previous cross country season, their strong performances on the track, including a new school record in the 3k, will have them hoping to carry that momentum to new heights in the West Region.

The Trinity Tigers will open their season hoping to set the tone early under the lights of UIW Twilight on September 1st, before returning on the 12th for the UIW Invitational.
