Trinity Cross Country Set To Race at Pre-Nationals and OLLU Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The Trinity Tigers are returning to competition after an extended period of training, having last raced a full three weeks ago. With one group headed up to Northfield, Minnesota to race on what will be the Nationals course come late November, and a second group returning to the Windcrest Golf course for the OLLU Invitational, they will hope to showcase the effects of that training.

The Trinity Women's side will look to continue a string of impressive performances as they head into an important first look at the nationals course. Their success in previous races has seen the side move up two spots in the national rankings, breaking into the top 20, and becoming the 19th highest ranked team in the nation. Now, with the return of Anne Snider (Waco, Texas / Live Oak Classical), the team's second fastest finisher the previous year's Nationals race, they will look to put their mark on a fresh Nationals course in Minnesota. With their full squad assembled for the first time this season, they will look to take the stage in force, facing off with elite competition at 11:00 am.

The men's side will also feature some returning faces. Eli Bliss (Garden Ridge, Texas / Davenport), who has been managing an injury for the early sections of the season, will return for his first race of the season in Minnesota. Having ended his previous cross season second for the Tigers at Regionals, the sophomore will hope to see a return to form in his first race back. Additionally, Nicholas Hutchinson, (Houston, Texas / Westside) who placed fourth for the Tigers in the season's first meet but missed the next one, will be eager to find success on a grander scale. The Tigers will expect this to be the strongest squad they have been able to field all season long. With a fully healthy squad, they will be hoping to put in a strong performance against some of the best programs in the country, taking to the start line at 12:00 pm.

Back at home, those not traveling to Minnesota will take on the OLLU Invitational, where they will look to post improved times on a course fairly similar to the one they raced on for the UIW Invitational. With the heat finally starting to subside, they will hope that the course stays intact through the rain predicted for this coming week long enough for them to take advantage of lower temperatures. The women will take to the course first, running at 8:00 am, with the men to follow at 8:45 am.

The Tigers will have the next week off before sending the full team to the DBU-Old Glory Gallop on October 17th, where they will be hoping to add a final bit of experience before sending a relatively young squad to race at the SAA Conference Championships.
