San Antonio - Trinity senior infielder John Tucker has been selected as the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week of the early season.
Tucker paced the fourth-ranked Tigers to a pair of home season-opening victories last weekend over #8 State University of New York-Cortland. Trinity outfought Cortland in last Saturday's 9-8 win and followed with a 10-5 decision on Sunday.
In the two games Tucker batted 5-9, scored two runs, and drove in seven. Tucker drove a well-timed single in the first game with Cortland, which tied the contest at 8-8 in the bottom of the ninth. Earlier, Tucker drove in a run which tied the matchup in the sixth inning.
Tucker hit 2-5 in the season-opener, drove in two runs and scored another. Sunday's scorecard showed Tucker going 3-4 at the plate, with five RBI and a double, as well as one run scored.
