San Antonio - Trinity rising senior outfielder Rafe Chaumette has been selected for Sunday's New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star Game in Montpelier, Vermont.
The NECBL is a nationally recognized top-tier summer league that recruits college players from throughout the United States and foreign countries. There are 13 teams divided into Northern and Southern Divisions.
Chaumette is a member of the New Bedford (MA) Bay Sox and will compete in his second consecutive All-Star Game for the Southern Division. As of July 26, Chaumette is second on the Bay Sox with a .312 batting average, going 39-125 at the plate. He has posted nine RBI this season, plastered a pair of home runs, and has scored 21 runs.
In Trinity's 2019 season, Chaumette led the Tigers with a .351 batting average, while driving in a team-best 44 runs. He also cracked six home runs in the course of the campaign. Chaumette's performance earned him D3baseball.com All-West Region Third Team accolades. He also was tabbed for the West Region All-Tournament Team and the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team.
Led by 21st-year Head Coach Tim Scannell, the Tigers captured their 12th SCAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the 12th occasion. Trinity shared the regular-season conference title with a 14-4 record, and finished the slate with a 35-12 overall mark.
