Seguin, Texas - Trinity first-year men's golfer Daniel Nunez captured the individual title Tuesday at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational, while the Tigers' top team finished in third place.
Daniel Nunez shot a third-round 2-under-par 69 to win the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational at Starcke Park Municipal Course.
Nunez finished the two-day event with a 3-under 210, leading the McMurry (TX) University second-place golfer by one stroke.
It marked the first individual victory for a Trinity men's golfer since October 2017, when current junior Dawson Dally won the UMHB Fall Invitational at Killeen, Texas.
Trinity's first team entry shot a final-round 287 Tuesday for an 872 total and third-place finish. The Tigers' second-team entry finished with a 297 for an 889 total and a #8 position.
Holden Wisener carded a 73 for a 220 and tied for 17th place. Bryce Pidgeon rose 10 positions for a tie for 20th with a 71, and was one stroke behind his teammate. Zac Bunder and Cade Black also tied for 20th place.
DJ Springer shot a final-round 70 and had a dramatic rise from 43rd place to a tie for 27th.
Daniel Nunez and Holden Wisener tied for second place in tournament birdies with 11 each. Nunez also led par-4 scoring with a 3.88 average.
Nunez, Bryce Pidgeon, and D.J. Springer each accounted for an eagle.
The Tigers will compete September 30-October 1 at the Fall Intercollegiate Invitational at Belton, Texas.
