Trinity Men's Basketball Beaten by UT-Dallas on Sunday

San Antonio – Trinity's men's basketball team lost a 78-62 game at the University of Texas-Dallas on Sunday afternoon.

 

GAME SUMMARY

After UT-Dallas scored the first four points of the day, Trinity hit a three-pointer for what turned out to be its only lead of the game. The Comets went on a 15-4 run over the next several minutes to build an 11-point lead that the Tigers were never able to fully overcome. Trinity got back within five points late in the period, but UTD closed the first half by scoring 14 of the last 17 points for a 36-20 lead.

Trinity was held under 40% shooting for the game, but the Tiger defense did keep UT-Dallas under 30% shooting (8-28) from three-point range.

UT-Dallas upped the second-half lead to 20 points just 3:25 into the period and the Tigers never got closer than an 18-point deficit until the final seconds.

 

NOTABLES

Trinity falls to 0-3 at the start of the season, while UT-Dallas improves to 2-1 on the year. The Tigers begin the year with at least three losses for the fourth time in the last six seasons.

Trinity has lost three straight games in the series with the Comets, though the Tigers did win in the previous meeting on the road in 2016-17. Trinity is 5-7 against UT-Dallas under Head Coach Pat Cunningham.

Ben Hanley led the Tigers with 13 points on 5-8 shooting overall and 3-5 from three-point range, as well as pulling down a team-best six rebounds.

Stephen Molina was Trinity's only other player in double figures, scoring 12 points on 4-8 shooting and 2-5 from distance.

A.J. Clark chipped in with nine points and a team-best four assists.

John-Anthony Di Tullio led Trinity's bench with eight points in nine minutes.
