San Antonio – Trinity's men's soccer team lost 2-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals against Texas Lutheran University on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers and Bulldogs played to a scoreless tie into the 81st minute, but two late goals by Texas Lutheran proved to be the difference.
Trinity's defense didn't allow a shot until the 34th minute of the game, and the only shot on goal of the first half came with less than three minutes left in the period. The Tigers held a 7-3 edge in total shots, but none of Trinity's shots were on target.
After the two teams traded shots on goal in the 77th and 79th minutes, Texas Lutheran finally broke through with a goal at the 80:12 mark of the game to take the 1-0 lead.
Both teams had on-target shots in the 84th minute, but the game remained 1-0. The Tigers had their final chance to tie with another shot on goal with just under four minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs kept Trinity off the board.
Texas Lutheran clinched the game with a goal that came with one minute remaining.
Trinity falls to 11-6-2 on the season with the loss, which also snaps a 15-game winning streak in SCAC Tournament play.
The Tigers also lost for the first time in five matchups against Texas Lutheran in the SCAC Tournament.
