Trinity Men’s Tennis Shut Out by Amherst

Orlando, Florida- The 14th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team was shut out 9-0 by #15 Amherst (MA)  College Wednesday at the USTA National Campus.

 

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

Jordan Pitts and Liam Crawley fought hard in the third line of doubles, but came up short 8-6. Wilson Lambeth and Matt Tyer played the top match, and Chas Mayer and Clayton Niess competed on the third line.

All of the singles matches were two setters. Pitts battled in the third line, and lost a second-set tiebreaker. Tilden Oliver also gave it a run and was edged in a first-set tiebreaker. Mayer played #1 singles, Lambeth was the #2 singles player, Crawley played the fourth line, and  McKenna Fujitani competed at #5 singles.

 

NOTABLES

The Tigers now stand at 7-6 overall, and are 6-3 against NCAA Division III opponents.

Trinity went 3-1 on its Spring Break trip to Florida. The Tigers claimed victories over #20 Kenyon (OH) College, 30th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology (NJ), and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY).

The Tigers will host two matches on Sunday, March 26 with 23rd-ranked Gustavus Adolphus (MN) College and Linfield (OR) College.
