Tiger Men's Tennis Competes at Trinity Invitational on Friday

San Antonio - The Tiger men's tennis team opened its Trinity Invitational by taking on players from the NCAA Divisions I and II in singles and doubles on Friday.

HIGHLIGHTS

Wilson Hamilton defeated Gabriel Zuniga of St. Edward's (TX) University 6-1, 6-1 in Friday's opening round of Flight 2 Singles and advanced to Saturday's Semifinals.

Christian Settles outfought Zac Robinson of St. Edward's 7-5, 6-1 in Flight 5 Singles and moved on to the semis.

Hamilton and Settles will play Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in their respective Singles Semifinals matches.

Hamilton and Artur Zigman earned a slot in Saturday's Flight 2 Doubles Championship with an 8-3 victory over Brendan Brown and Daniel Gill of St. Mary's (TX) University. The title match is set for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Cameron Krimbill and Jordan Pitts came up short in Flight 1 Singles, and Jace Akagi-Okuma lost in his opener of Flight 2 Singles, as did Zigman and Cal Hunter in Flight 3.

Lars Wiik and Brett Finan fell in Flight 4 Singles, and all will compete in the consolation draws.

Pitts and Krimbill were edged 8-7 (6) by Sriniketh and Wikso of St. Edward's in Flight 1 Doubles Semifinals and will play for third place. 

In addition to Trinity, St. Mary's, and St. Edward's, the University of the Incarnate Word (TX) is competing in the tournament.

The tournament concludes Saturday with two rounds of singles and another round of doubles.
