Lawrence, Kansas - Three members of the Tiger men's and women's swim teams opened up the 2019-20 season at the College Swimming Coaches Association of America National Collegiate Open Water Championship at Lone Star Lake on Saturday.
Trinity junior Mabel Fowler finished 25th in the 3K (3.1 miles) race, finishing in a time of 1:08:36.7. Last season, Fowler earned her way into the NCAA Championships in three different events, securing Honorable Mention All-America recognition by finishing 15th in the 200-yard backstroke event.
Sophomore Meghan Magill also competed in today's event to begin the 2019-20 campaign, finishing in a time of 1:16:04.2 in a field that included mostly Division I and Division II competition.
First-year Omar Shahatit was the lone representative for the Tiger men's team, finishing 33rd with his time of 1:09:58.8.
Trinity will host an intrasquad meet with current members of the swimming & diving teams along with Tiger alumni on Saturday, October 5, during Trinity's Alumni Weekend.
