Adrien Downey enters his second year as the assistant swim coach for the 2022-2023 season. Coach Downey played a big role in helping both the Men and women win the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletics Conference Championship. Coach Downey along with the rest of the coaching staff was tabbed SCAC Coaching Staff of the Year on the men's side. 

Downey joins the program after spending time in Buffalo, New York coaching the SUNY-Buffalo State College men's and women's swimming teams for three seasons. During his time as an assistant coach, Downey helped coach the program's first All-American swimmer in over 40 years. Coach Downey also helped his student-athletes set records in 18 events. 

The Washington, D.C. native graduated from Williams College with a degree in English in 2015. At Williams, he was a four-year member of the conference championship team. In addition to winning New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) team championships all four years with Williams, Downey also earned All-Conference honors in the 1,000 and 1,650-yard freestyle events, achieving an NCAA "B" cut time standard in those two events.  He was also selected to the NESCAC All-Academic team three times following the 2014-2015 season. The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named him an Honorable Mention Scholar All-American.
