San Antonio - Trinity senior Abby Holland has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The talented forward helped spark the 22nd-ranked Tigers to a six-game winning streak, a 9-2 overall record, and a 4-0 mark in conference play. The last four victories have been SCAC wins over Texas Lutheran University, Southwestern (TX) University, the University of St. Thomas (TX), and Centenary (LA) College.
Holland averaged 18.8 points over the four matchups, sinking 59.3% of her shots. She also averaged 7.3 rebounds, contributed 12 assists, racked up 12 steals, and recorded three blocked shots.
Holland's 25-points performance against Texas Lutheran was a season-best. She hit 10-19 from the field, grabbed six rebounds, and made four steals in the game with the Bulldogs. Holland posted her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds against St. Thomas, along with sending out four assists. Holland scored 21 points in the week's finale against Centenary hitting 9-12 from the field while picking up five steals.
Overall this season, Holland leads the team with 17.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She is shooting 53% from the field and has amassed 36 steals and 20 assists.
The Tigers continue their SCAC campaign this weekend on the road, starting with the University of Dallas (TX) Friday at Irving, Texas. Trinity then travels to Sherman, Texas, to take on Austin (TX) College on Saturday. The Tigers and Kangaroos are tied for the conference lead.
