#11 Trinity Women Close Regular Season With Shutout Victory

Kerrville, Texas - The 11th-ranked Tiger women's soccer team put the finishing touches on its regular season schedule with a 3-0 shutout win at Schreiner (TX) University on Saturday.

Trinity was held to just three shots in a scoreless first half, though the Tigers led 13-2 overall in shots taken during the game.

The Tigers ripped two shots in the first 13 minutes of action, but were unable to get another until Julia Kelly's attempt hit the cross bar just 28 seconds before halftime.

Schreiner had the first two shots on goal in the game, but Trinity goalkeeper Paige Wallace recorded saves on both – the second of which came just after the start of the second period.

Trinity finally began to find better chances in the second half, earning the first shot on goal in the 63rd minute.

Shortly after that first shot on goal, Meredith Licata turned in Trinity's second shot on goal with the eventual game-winner in the 66th minute on an assist from Chelsea Cole.

Trinity's insurance goal came with just over 15 minutes remaining on a Schreiner own-goal to put the Tigers up 2-0.

Cole picked up her second assist of the day in the 82nd minute, finding Halleanne Dure for Trinity's final score.

Trinity finishes the regular season with its 16th consecutive win, improving to 16-1-0 overall and sporting an unblemished 12-0-0 mark in SCAC play.

Meredith Licata netted her seventh goal this season, as well as her second game-winning score.

Halleanne Dure scored her 16th goal of the year, which is second among Tiger scorers this season.

Dure needs just two more goals to crack the top 25 in school history, after scoring the 23rd goal of her career in today's game.

Chelsea Cole leads Trinity with 43 points scored in 2017, bumping her total to nine assists on the year. With her two assists, she is now tied for 19th in school history with 21 career helpers.

As the top seed in next weekend's SCAC Tournament in Shreveport, Louisiana, Trinity will receive a first-round bye. The Tigers open tournament play at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4.
