San Antonio - The 17th-ranked Trinity women's soccer team opened its 2019 campaign Friday evening with a 4-0 home victory over East Texas Baptist University .
Trinity dominated the game from start to finish, allowing just three total shots - all of which came in the second half. The Tiger offense peppered the visitors with a total of 29 shots overall and a 19-0 advantage in the opening period.
Madison Horner scored back-to-back goals to start the scoring for Trinity. Her first was a chip shot over the keeper after Alex Walsh's initial effort was saved. The second was less than 10 minutes of game time later on a rocket from just outside the box to make it a 2-0 game.
First-year Cassie Bowers put the final touches on a corner kick in the 39th minute for her first collegiate goal.
The final goal of the game came in the 62nd minute, as first-years Nyah Shepherd and Kristen Coniglione combined for a score. Shepherd lofted a ball into the box that drew out the East Texas Baptist goalie, and Coniglione chipped it over her head for the goal.
Trinity now stands at 1-0-0, while East Texas Baptist is 0-1-0.
Dylan Harrison began his fourth season as head coach of the Tigers and captured his 60th Trinity victory.
Sophomore Madison Horner posted the first multi-goal game of her career.
Trinity concludes its Labor Day Weekend home schedule with a 1:00 p.m. game against Sul Ross State (TX) University on Sunday.
