San Antonio - Trinity senior Kristen Canepa has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
The talented defender sparked the 17th-ranked Tigers to a 3-1 victory over #10 Hardin-Simmons (TX) University, who the Tigers had not defeated since the 2011 season.
Canepa and her teammates limited Hardin-Simmons to eight total shots and three on goal. The Cowgirls did not score until connecting on a penalty kick in the final minutes of action.
A versatile player, Canepa fired in her first two goals of the campaign. She drove in the game-winner in the 54th minute, and then scored on a corner kick in the 67th minute of play.
The Tigers remain undefeated at 3-0-0 and head to Tacoma, Washington, this weekend for two games. Trinity takes on host University of Puget Sound (WA) on Friday and Willamette (OR) University Sunday.
