San Antonio - The Trinity women's soccer team is ranked 11th in the first regular-season United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Poll, rising from the 18th position on the preseason list.
Led by fourth-year Head Coach Dylan Harrison, the Tigers are sporting an undefeated 3-0-0 record in the early season. Trinity beat East Texas Baptist University 4-0, Sul Ross State (TX) University 2-0, and then-10th-ranked Hardin-Simmons (TX) University 3-1. The Tigers had not defeated Hardin-Simmons since the 2011 season.
Trinity has two shutout victories and has scored nine goals this season, along with producing seven assists. The lone opponent's goal came from Hardin-Simmons late in the game on a penalty kick. The Tigers lead the opposition 68-17 in total shots and 31-7 in shots on the mark.
Senior defender Kristen Canepa and sophomore midfielder Madison Horner lead the team with two goals each. First-year defender Nyah Shepherd has a trey of assists in her column, while junior goalkeeper Paige Wallace has six saves this season.
The Tigers head to Tacoma, Washington, this weekend for two games. First up is host University of Puget Sound (WA) on Friday, followed by a Sunday matchup with Willamette (OR) University.
