San Antonio - Trinity's Caroline Kutach has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Co-Player of the Week.
It marked the second time this season the Tiger sophomore earned Player of the Week accolades. Kutach was instrumental in 14th-ranked Trinity's 7-2 victories last week over #25 Linfield (OR) College, and East Texas Baptist University.
Kutach went undefeated in #2 singles and the third line doubles matches over the week. She was paired with Cheyenne Duncan at #3 doubles against Linfield, winning the matchup 9-7 to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Kutach's victory at the second singles match widened Trinity's lead to 4-1 in the dual match.
Against East Texas Baptist, Kutach rejoined regular doubles partner Andrea De Leon on the third line. The Trinity duo posted the first doubles win of the match, as the Tigers went on to lead 2-1 after the tandem competition. Kutach's singles decision proved to be the clincher for Trinity.
This season, Kutach stands at 12-7 in singles matches. Kutach and De Leon are sporting an excellent 10-1 record as a doubles team.
Trinity has an overall record of 12-7, and is 12-4 against the NCAA Division III competition. The Tigers will host Southwestern (TX) University at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21.
