San Antonio - The 16th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team defeated #28 Southwestern (TX) University 8-1 on Senior Night.
The Tigers opened the dual match by winning all three doubles. Liza Southwick and Marie Lutz won the first pairing, Caroline Kutach and Zoe Kaffen took the second, while Andrea De Leon and Mary Kaffen were victorious at #3 doubles.
Zoe Kaffen won #4 singles, and Lutz clinched the match by winning the third line. Kutach then won the #2 singles match.
Southwestern's only point came at #1 singles, as Southwick came up short.
Mary Kaffen won #5 singles, and De Leon finished up the match by taking the sixth line.
The Tigers won their third straight match and improved to 13-7, while the Pirates now stand at 19-2.
Elena Wilson was presented the Jimmy Moses Award for the second time in her career. The award honors the late Jimmy Moses, a member of Trinity's first men's scholarship tennis team in the late 1950s.
The Tigers conclude their regular-season home schedule Saturday, by hosting two matches. First up is Colorado College at 10:00 a.m., followed by Austin (TX) College at 3:00 p.m.
