San Antonio - Head Women's Tennis Coach Gretchen Rush leads the Trinity contingent of All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honorees for the 2017 season.
Coach Rush was named the SCAC Co-Coach of the Year, after leading the Tigers to their third consecutive SCAC Championship under her guidance. The conference title was the sixth straight overall for Trinity's program, which defeated Southwestern (TX) University 5-0 to claim the crown.
Five Tiger players joined Coach Rush on the list of honorees, including senior Liza Southwich, junior Marie Lutz, sophomores Caroline Kutach and Andrea De Leon, and first-year player Zoe Kaffen. Voting was conducted among SCAC head coaches.
Trinity (17-7) also garnered an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Tigers will take on fifth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges in the first round next weekend, at Claremont, California. The day and time will be determined.
Southwich and Lutz were selected to the All-SCAC Team for the third consecutive year, while Kutach is now a two-time All-SCAC honoree. De Leon garnered Honorable Mention recognition for the second straight season.
