Claremont, California - The 17th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team was eliminated with a 5-1 loss in the second round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs against #5 Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges on Saturday.
The Tigers wrapped up their eighth consecutive NCAA postseason event, finishing the season with a 13-7 overall record.
The second line of singles went to the Sagehens, who then led 3-1.
De Leon lost the first set of #4 singles and fought back in the second stanza, but was edged in a tiebreaker.
Kutach won the opening set of #1 singles, and then lost the second and third, as Pomona-Pitzer clinched the dual match.
Kutach finished the season with a 12-5 record and is the third Singles alternate for the NCAA Championships, which begin May 24 at Kalamazoo, Michigan.
There was plenty of action on the remaining courts, as all three remaining singles matches went to a third set.
