Austin, Texas - Trinity's men's and women's cross country teams turned in exceptional performances at the University of Texas Invitational on Friday night.
Trinity's women finished second with 50 total points, trailing only the hosting Texas women's team. The men were third behind Division I Texas and Division II St. Edward's (TX) University with a score of 68, which was just four points from second place.
Harry Bellow was the top Tiger finisher on Friday evening, finishing the 5K race in 16:06.88 for 10th place - less than five seconds from his personal best.
Keaton Holt turned in a personal-best time of 16:33.66 to finish in the top 15 individually, while Chad Conway also earned a spot in the top 20 and set a new personal record with his time of 16:40.17.
Joshua Morgan earned a 21st-place finish and established a new PR of 16:56.68, which is more than 30 seconds faster than his previous record.
Rounding out the Trinity men's runners in the top 25 were Ben Whittemore and Craig Sandoval, while Joseph Hermes and Aaron Garcia had new personal bests of their own and finished in the top 35, individually.
Three other women's runners finished in the top 25, led by Anna King's 21st-place performance in 20:01.16. Paige Tangney was 22nd with a time of 20:07.14, while Olive Pertuit clocked in at 20:37.47 and 25th place.
Both Tiger teams return to action on Saturday, September 21, at the Saints Invitational in nearby Windcrest, Texas. The men's race begins at 8:00 a.m., followed by the women at 8:45 a.m. on the Windcrest Golf Course.
