Women's Cross Country Second at Bill Libby Invite; Men Fifth

Abilene, Texas – The Tiger women's cross country team finished as the runner-up at the Bill Libby Invitational on Saturday, while the Trinity men were fifth.



On a day that saw the two Tiger teams split up at two separate events, Trinity's women scored 65 points to fall just short of the top spot at this meet.

Five women's runners broke their personal records in the meet that was hosted by McMurry (TX) University on Saturday, and six Tigers finished in the top 25 individually.

Liliana Perez and Elaine Kaster were ninth and 10th, respectively, and both also set new personal bests in the meet. Perez came in ninth with a time of 24:29.2, while Kaster was less than a second behind her teammate in 10th place.

Maia Dykstra also had a personal-best time in finishing 14th, clocking in at 24:57.8. Laurel Daughtrey claimed 17th place and just missed her personal record time.

Rounding out the top 25 finishers were Natasha Wright and Theresa Feller, who both also had new personal-best times.

There were four men's runners who set new personal records in the meet, led by Jackson Meyer's 17th-place finish in a time of 28:15.9.

Aaron Garcia finished in 29:05.3 for 29th place and a new personal best, while Nathan Brown clocked in at 29:22.7 for a new personal best. Matthew Fraijo also had a new personal record in the meet.



Today was the final tune-up before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held in Colorado on Saturday, November 2. Both Tiger teams are two-time defending conference champions.
