Cathleen Pruden is entering her fourth season as the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach during the 2024-25 season.
During the 2023-24 winter season, Cathleen led the Trinity Swimming and Diving teams to their 38th overall SCAC Championship, finishing 15th in the men's division and 23rd in the women's division. The Tigers achieved 102 event wins, set 8 school records, and earned 8 All-American honors, with 15 SCAC event champions. They had All-American placements in the 100 free, 50 free, 400 IM, 200 breast, 200 IM, 200 free relay, 800 free relay, and 200 medley relay. Neely Burns was named SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Year and won the NCAA National Championship in the 400 IM. Michael Kohl was honored as SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Year, and Konstantine Partalas was named SCAC Men’s Diver of the Year. Academically, the Tigers earned 8 All-District awards, Emma Hagan was recognized as a CSC Academic All-American, and Kendal Southwell received the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
Under her reign, Coach Pruden has had 108 All-SCAC performances, 5 SCAC Divers of the Year, 5 SCAC Swimmers of the Year, and 47 All-American performances. Coach Pruden also won SCAC Coach of the Year during the 2022-23 season. Academically, the Tigers have had 101 athletes on the SCAC honor roll, 15 CSC Academic All-District Honors, and 35 CSCAA Academic All-Americans.
Before coming over to Trinity, coach Pruden spent the last five seasons as an Assistant Coach at Bowdoin (ME) College and Amherst (MA) College, and she recently earned her Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies from Smith (MA) College.
The graduate of Mount Holyoke (MA) College was an All-American swimmer on four different occasions who was also named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year twice. Pruden also earned Academic All-American honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America on three separate occasions. She was also a Top 30 honoree for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. In addition to her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Education, Pruden also earned her Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies from Smith (MA) College.
