Joseph Muscarella enters his first season as the Tight Ends Coach at Trinity University.
Before arriving at Trinity, Muscarella built his coaching foundation through hands-on experience at various levels. He served as an assistant coach at the varsity and junior varsity levels in St. James, New York, where he focused on developing player fundamentals, technique, and football IQ. In addition to implementing strategic drills and reinforcing safety protocols, he mentored student-athletes on and off the field, guiding them through the recruiting process and helping prepare them for collegiate athletics. Muscarella has also led individualized and group wide receiver training sessions, concentrating on route running, catching, and position-specific skills for middle and high school athletes.
A former wide receiver at SUNY Cortland, Muscarella was a key contributor to one of the top programs in NCAA Division III. He was a member of the 2023 National Championship team and helped lead Cortland to three consecutive Empire 8 Conference titles (2022–2024). Over his collegiate career, he earned a starting role in 10 games and played a crucial part in the team's 34–4 overall record. Muscarella originally made the team as a walk-on and quickly emerged as a team leader, modeling work ethic and dedication that inspired younger teammates.
Muscarella is on track to graduate in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland. He is also certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid through the American Red Cross and completed New York State Professional Coaching Certification.
