Kalvin “Skoot” Lewis will be entering his first year as assistant coach at Trinity University during the 2026-27 season. Coach Lewis has a strong passion for mentoring and helping student athletes achieve success on and off the court. 

Lewis joins the Tigers following a successful career at the collegiate, professional, and high school levels. Lewis most recently served as assistant coach at Fort Bend Austin high school, helping the program to be one of the most competitive programs in Houston. Before coaching at FB Austin, Lewis coached collegiately at Schreiner University and Southern Arkansas University serving as assistant coach. He coached professional basketball overseas as well in the Icelandic league, where he was able to win the regular season championship and playoff championship going 20-2. Before coaching overseas, Coach Lewis served as a High School head basketball coach for many years helping many student athletes receive athletic scholarships, achieving playoffs with multiple teams, and leading a team to an appearance in the state final four.

Before beginning his coaching career, Coach Lewis played 4 years of collegiate basketball at Missouri Baptist University in Saint Louis, Missouri where he was able to total over 1,200 points while leading in assists and steals for multiple years.

A native of Houston, Texas, Lewis graduated from Missouri Baptist University in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a certificate in Teaching. He also graduated with a Masters degree in Nutrition and Human Performance from Logan University in 2024, and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Strength and Conditioning at Logan University.
