Owen Collie returned to campus as a part-time Trinity Tigers women’s soccer assistant coach prior to the 2015 season.
Coach Collie spent four years on the Trinity staff, before departing earlier in the summer of 2015 for a position with San Antonio's Classics Elite Soccer Academy. He is the girls head of development, and the college program director.
He was honored as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) West Region Assistant Coach of the Year for two consecutive seasons, in 2013 and 2014. In the selection process from last season, Coach Collie was one of two coaches named from the ranks of the NCAA Division III.
Coach Collie began his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of the Incarnate Word. He was an assistant coach for the Cardinals from 2007-2009 at the San Antonio institution. UIW competes in the NCAA Division I, and is former member of Division II. In addition to working with the varsity team, Coach Collie spearheaded the developmental program, and served as the Cardinal Camp director for three years.
The talented Coach Collie was a UIW soccer standout from 2002-2005, appearing in 57 games. The team advanced to the Division II Playoffs each season of his competition, posting an overall record of 60-11-11 (a .799 winning percentage) during his four-year collegiate career. Additionally, the Cardinals were ranked in the top-25 each season, which included a No. 1 ranking during the 2004 campaign.
A native of Aberdeen, Scotland, Coach Collie earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2006 from UIW, and a master’s in kinesiology in 2009. He was presented the Outstanding Kinesiology Student Award in 2009.
Coach Collie is married to the former Emily Hernandez, who played soccer for UIW from 2007-2010. She earned All-Heartland Conference accolades for three years.
