Ryan Takao

Ryan Takao is in his third season as head coach of the TrinityTigers women's tennis team. 

Coach Takao has guided the Tigers to a 22-19 dual-match record,and a berth in the Southern Collegiate Athletic ConferenceChampionship match. Each season, his players have qualified for theNCAA Division III  Singles and Doubles Championships.

He was an assistant coach with the Tigers for 12 years, beforeassuming the helm in 2009. Coach Takao was the assistant whenTrinity captured the NCAA national championship in 2000.

Coach Takao earned the Bachelor of Arts in humanities fromTrinity in 1996 and was a four-year letterman on the Tiger men'steam. He helped lead the Tigers to three consecutive SCAC titles asa player. Coach Takao was named to the All-SCAC Team twice in hiscareer, and spearheaded Trinity to four NCAA postseasonappearances.

He played at Theodore Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, andwas the team's No. 1 singles and doubles player for his last threeyears. Coach Takao advanced to the Class 5A Region round of 16 insingles in 1990 and 1991. He also played doubles with his brother,Mikey (a former Trinity player, as well) and finished third inregionals in 1992.

Coach Takao received the Boys 18's Texas Super Championship ArtFaust Sportsmanship Award in 1991 and 1992. In 1989, he played onthe San Antonio National City Tennis Team. The Takao family wasalso chosen as the San Antonio Family of the Year by the SanAntonio Tennis Association in 1989.

Coach Takao's highest junior ranking in Texas was 11th, but hewas also ranked the No. 1 doubles team in the state, with hisfather, in 1990.

He is a certified United States Professional Tennis Associationinstructor, and teaches in San Antonio. 

 Coach Takao and his wife, Cari, reside in San Antonio.
