Casey Tibbs is in the midst of his second year at Trinity as anassistant track and field coach specializing in the jumps, afterjoining the team for the 2013-14 season.
Coach Tibbs is a two-time Paralympic Gold medalist, winning themen's 4x100m relay at the Athens Games in 2004 and the BeijingGames in 2008. He was also the first active duty militarymember to compete in the Paralympics.
In addition to his gold medals at the Olympics, Coach Tibbs alsowon the silver in the pentathlon (Athens), and the bronze in thelong jump (Beijing). He was the 2004 U.S. Olympic CommitteeParalympic Athlete of the Year.
Coach Tibbs was a resident athlete at the Olympic TrainingCenter in Chula Vista from 2005-2009, where he trained with some ofthe best track and field athletes and coaches. As aParalympian, Coach Tibbs has competed all over the world and hasearned a multitude of prestigious awards to include the 2007 ESPNESPY award for Best Athlete with a Disability.
As a coach and advocate, Coach Tibbs has been a vital resourcein the establishment of multiple Paralympic sports organizationsthroughout the country. He has trained and coached over 200aspiring athletes with physical disabilities in their pursuit ofqualifying for the Paralympics, to include four paralympicmedalists.
Coach Tibbs joined the Navy in 1999 and currently serves as aChief Petty Officer in San Antonio. He holds a Level 1Coaching certificate from USA Track and Field.
