Box Score 2 Conway, Arkansas - The Trinity Tigers, ranked 15th in the
nation, continued their run in the second Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference West-Central Tournament Sunday with a 21-25,
25-20, 25-15, 25-18 victory over the Birmingham-Southern Panthers
at Hendrix College.
Trinity improved to 18-6 overall, and stands at 8-2 in SCAC play.
Birmingham-Southern results do not count in SCAC standings because
the Panthers are in transition from the NCAA Division I to Division
III.
Tiger senior middle blocker Ginger Haley hit .571 in the match (12
kills, 0 errors, 21 total attacks), along with four blocks. Senior
outside hitter Amy Mittelstaedt led the team with 15 kills, and
added seven digs. Junior outside hitter Alexis Edwards was the digs
leader, with 20.
Junior setter Caiti Troyer accounted for 44 assists, 19 digs, three
blocks and two aces. First-year libero Meredith Erwin picked up 18
digs. Senior middle blocker Aly Hazelwood made four blocks.
First-year outside hitter Madison McMahon registered 10 kills.
Junior defensive specialist Emily Hilliard had two aces and 11
digs.
Trinity takes on Austin College, which received votes in the
Division III poll, later this afternoon.
Conway, Arkansas - The 15th-ranked Trinity Tigers finished 4-0 at
the second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference West-Central
Tournament after a 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 shutout of the Austin
College Kangaroos Sunday afternoon at Hendrix College.
Trinity, which beat Birmingham-Southern 3-1 earlier in the day,
improved to 19-6 and 9-2 SCAC. Austin College received votes in the
latest top-25 Division III poll.
Tiger senior middle blocker Ginger Haley hit .412 in the match (9
kills, 2 errors, 17 total attacks). Senior outside hitter Amy
Mittelstaedt also had nine kills, along with eight digs. First-year
libero Meredith Erwin was the digs leader, with 14, and junior
outside hitter Alexis Edwards added 13.
Junior setter Caiti Troyer registered 35 assists and nine digs.
Senior middle blocker Aly Hazelwood blocked seven shots, and fired
up two aces. Junior right-side player Tayler Malloy had four
blocks.
Trinity travels to Colorado Springs, Colo., for the second SCAC
East-West Tournament. The event will be held next Friday and
Saturday at Colorado College.
