forward Ben Grossman
has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's
Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Grossman, from Encinitas, Calif. (La Costa Canyon), sparked the
Tigers to two SCAC home victories last weekend. Trinity beat Rhodes
2-1 and shut out Hendrix 2-0. Grossman scored both of the Tigers'
goals against Rhodes, and then added an insurance goal against
Hendrix. For the season, Grossman leads the team with 14 goals,
including six game-winners. He is also tied for second place in
assists, with four, giving him a Tigers-best 32 points.
Trinity (15-1-2), led by 19th-year head coach Paul McGinlay,
will host an NCAA second-round game at 6 p.m. Sunday. The Tigers,
now ranked No. 2 in the nation, and No. 1 in the West Region, will
meet the winner of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Hardin-Simmons,. who play
a first-round game Thursday in Belton, Texas.
