Ben Grossman scored a goal and provided an assist as the
fifth-ranked Tigers closed out their regular season with a 2-0
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer victory over
the Hendrix Warriors Sunday
afternoon.
Trinity, ranked No. 1 in the West Region, improved to 15-1-2 and
10-0-0 SCAC. Last week, the Tigers clinched their 13th SCAC title,
and the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs. Pairings
will be announced Monday by the NCAA.
Grossman, who scored his 14th goal of the season, gave the
Tigers a 2-0 lead in the 81st minute, off a deflected Hendrix
goalkeeper save. He now has 32 points for the season. Sophomore
midfielder Nima Naderi chalked up his eighth assist of the
campaign.
Senior defender Eric Henderson scored his first goal of the
season, and the game-winner, in the 60th minute. Henderson scored
off a rebound after a goalkeeper's save, as Grossman picked up his
fourth assist.
Trinity, which registered its 11th shutout, led Hendrix 24-7 in
shots, and 13-1 on goal. The Tigers held a 12-2 advantage in corner
kicks.
