San Antonio - Trinity
University Tigers senior midfielder Brianna Young of Rockville
Centre, N.Y. (South Side), has been named the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Young scored three goals and two assists to pace the Tigers in
the two road victories last weekend. Trinity edged Austin College
2-1 in double-overtime in a SCAC game and blanked the University of
Dallas 4-0 in a non-conference tilt.
The Tigers (6-0-0, 1-0-0), led by head coach Lance Key, moved up
in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III
poll to No. 9, from 10th. Trinity, which has yielded
only one goal this season, maintained a No. 6 ranking in the
D3soccer.com poll.
Young fired in the game-winning goal in last Friday's victory
over Austin College, breaking a 1-1 tie. Last Sunday, Young scored
twice and assisted on the Tigers' other two goals to give her a
total of eight points in the two games.
For the season, Young leads the team with 12 points and four
assists, and is second on the squad with four goals. Young's
game-winner against Austin College was her second of the season.
Trinity will host San Antonio's Our Lady of the Lake University
at 8 p.m. Friday.
