Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity University Tigers
men's soccer team is ranked No. 1 in the nation by the latest
Division III poll from the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America.
The Tigers jumped to the top slot from a No. 7 ranking last
week. The poll from d3soccer.com ranks the Tigers at No. 3.
Trinity, led by 20th-year Head Coach Paul
McGinlay and Assistant Coach Kelly Altman, stands at 14-2-0
overall, and is 7-0-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference.
Currently, the Tigers are in the midst of a six-game win streak,
and have scored 67 goals in 16 games (4.19 per game), yielding only
14 (.88 per game). Trinity has registered six shutouts during the
campaign.
Three midfielders lead the Tigers in scoring. Senior Tommy Barros of San Antonio (Churchill) has scored 11
goals (one game-winner), and dished out three assists. First-year
player Yuri Ribeiro of Salvador, Brazil, also has 11 goals
(three game-winners) and three assists. Junior Zach Garcia of
Dallas (Lake Highlands), has produced 10 goals (two game-winners)
and five assists. Each player has a total of 25
points.
Trinity will close out its regular-season home schedule this
weekend with two SCAC games. The defending conference champion
Tigers take on Sewanee:The University of the South at 8 p.m.
Friday, and Oglethorpe at 1 p.m. Sunday.
