Box Score San Antonio - Trinity first-year
midfielder Yuri Ribeiro scored two goals and made on assist as the
seventh-ranked Tiger men blanked the Colorado College Tigers 6-0
Friday night in a SCAC game at the Trinity Soccer Field.
The Trinity Tigers, who have won eight of the last nine games, now
stand at 9-2-0 and 3-0-0 SCAC. Trinity, the defending SCAC
champion, also recorded its fourth shutout of the campaign.
Colorado College, which suffered its first conference loss of the
season, dropped to 6-4-2 and 4-1-0 SCAC.
First on the board for Trinity was Junior midfielder Zach
Garcia, who was assisted in the 16th minute by sophomore midfielder
Nima Naderi. Sophomore defender Denny Mask scored in the 18th
minute, and was assisted by sophomore defender Michael
Micheletti.
Then, it was Ribeiro's turn to score. He placed one past the
goalkeeper in the 27th minute, on an assist by senior midfielder
Tommy Barros, as Trinity led 3-0 at halftime. Ribeiro scored in the
51st minute of play, with an assist by junior midfielder CH
Farmer.
Barros and Ribeiro combined again for a goal, in the 56th
minute. This time, Barros had the goal and Ribeiro the assist. The
icing on the cake came in the 89th minute, as first-year midfielder
Sean Cantarella scored an unassisted goal.
Sophomore Tim Nelin was the starting keeper, and played for over 61
minutes to earn the victory.
Trinity held an overwhelming 35-2 advantage in shots, and an
18-0 mark on goal.
The Tigers will host Austin College in a SCAC game at 2 p.m.
Sunday.
