San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers junior midfielder Josh Adams and senior defender Chris Schardon have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Adams, from Houston (Clear Brook), led the Tigers to a pair of SCAC road wins last weekend. The Tigers, ranked No. 1 in the nation, clinched the SCAC Championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs. Adams scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over DePauw, which clinched at least a share of the SCAC title. He opened the scoring in the seventh minute, then came back in the second half to put the Tigers in the lead, 2-1, in the 59th minute. Three of Adams' four shots were on goal. Trinity went on to beat Centre 1-0.

For the season, Adams has scored five goals and three assists, for 13 points, tying for fifth place in Tiger goals.

Schardon, from The Woodlands, Texas (The Woodlands),  paced the Tiger defense which held DePauw to just eight shots in the game. The shutout win over Centre clinched Trinity's outright conference championship.

A fifth-year senior who  missed most of last season because of an injury, Schardon has now been a key part of five SCAC Championship Trinity teams. Schardon has helped lead the Tigers to nine shutouts this year. Trinity has yielded only 15 goals in 20 games.

Trinity University (18-2-0), led by 20th-year Head Coach Paul McGinlay. will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament Friday, Nov. 12, and Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Trinity Soccer Field.

The Tigers take on Pacific (Ore.) (14-2-3) at 5 p.m. Friday. Texas-Tyler (12-3-1) meets Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (14-3-2) in the second game at 7 p.m. The winners advance to Saturday's second-round game, with a 6 p.m. starting time.
