Two Tiger Seniors Earn Academic Honors From CoSIDA

San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers seniors Tyler Czinege and Tommy Barros have been elected to the ESPN Academic All-District 6 College Division Men's Soccer Teams.

Czinege, a defender from Kansas City, Kan. (Rockhurst), was selected for the District 6 First Team. The business administration/marketing major (3.99 grade point average) is now eligible for election to the national Academic All-America Team, to be announced Nov. 16. Czinege is an anchor of a taut Tiger defense which has yielded only 14 goals in 18 games this season (.78 goals per game). He contributed to the offensive side of the team by scoring one goal.

Last season, Czinege was named to the ESPN Academic All-America Third Team.
 
Barros, a forward from San Antonio (Churchill), made the District 6 Second Team. He is also a business administration/marketing major, with a 3.33 GPA. Barros is tied for the Tigers lead in goals, with 12 (two game-winners), and has also chalked up four assists. The potent Tiger offense has scored 80 goals this season (4.4 goals per game).
 
Trinity, led by 20th-year head coach Paul McGinlay, is ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Tigers, who have won eight straight games, stand at 16-2-0 overall. They are defending champions of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, and have an unblemished 8-0-0 SCAC record.
 
The Academic All-America program is conducted nationwide by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
