Box Score 2 Danville, Ky. - The Centre Colonels handed the Trinity Tigers their third straight loss with a 26-7 SCAC win Saturday at Farris Stadium.
The Tigers (3-6, 1-4 SCAC) wrap up their season next Saturday by hosting Austin College in a conference game at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Football Stadium. Centre (5-4, 3-3 SCAC) last beat Trinity in 2008 in Danville. Prior to that game, Trinity had defeated the Colonels seven consecutive times.
Centre scored first in the game, on a 4-yard run by Tyler Osterman, with 13:42 left in the opening period. The extra-point attempt failed. Trinity's Patrick Granchelli gave the Tigers a 7-6 lead, with a 1-yard run, followed by a Garrett Biel extra point, at 9:19 in the quarter.
After that point, Centre's Monte Scotton scored two rushing touchdowns, in the first and second periods, as the Colonels led 20-7 at halftime. Jordan Gay booted second-half field goals of 20 and 36 yards, as the Colonels took the win.
Granchelli rushed 21 times for 99 yards, including a long carry of 17 yards. Quarteback Nykolas McKissic completed 8-17 passes (no interceptions, four sacks) for 116 yards. Daniel South snagged three receptions for 28 yards, and Markham Stayton had two for 26 yards.
Caleb Urban, returned six kickoffs for 94 yards, including a long return of 33 yards. Punter Kyle Trella had seven punts for 266 yards (38.0 average), with a long punt of 52 yards.
The Tigers Jarrod Burns was the game's leading tackler, with eight solo tackles. Tyler Barrett had five solo tackles, as did Ben Robinson (along with a QB sack).
Scotton completed 7-14 passes (no interceptions, two sacks) for 135 yards, while rushing for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
Trinity had 84 yards rushing and 144 passing, for 228 total yards. Centre accounted for 216 yards on the ground, and 135 in the air, for 351 total yards.
