Trinity Men Defeat Centre to Win SCAC Title Outright

Box Score

Danville, Kentucky - After clinching a share of the 2010 conference title and an automatic bid to the playoffs on Friday, Trinity's men's soccer team locked in the outright SCAC Championship with a 1-0 win at Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (18-2, 11-0 SCAC) won its 14th overall SCAC Championship and its ninth consecutive conference crown.

Yuri Ribiero scored the eventual game-winner in the 35th minute to put Trinity ahead at the half.  Cameron Hogsett provided the assist, slipping a pass to Ribiero back towards the middle of the field that led to the goal.

For Ribiero, it marks his 12th goal of the 2010 campaign, tying him for the team lead.  He draws even with both Zach Garcia and Tommy Barros in goals scored, while Garcia and Ribiero lead the Tigers with 29 points (12 goals, five assists).  Barros is just a point back with 28 points (12 goals, four assists) this year.

Jacob Truitt earned the win for the Tigers in goal, recording one save and facing 10 total shots in the shutout.  The game marked the ninth shutout of the season for the Trinity team.

Trinity finishes the regular season with Sunday's win, and will await tomorrow's announcement from the NCAA regarding the playoff bracket, matchups, and host sites.
