Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity Tiger women's soccer team will travel to Abilene, Texas, for an NCAA Division III first-round game Saturday against Puget Sound (Wash.).
Trinity (17-1-0), on a 16-game winning streak, meets Puget Sound (17-1-2) at 1:30 p.m. at Hardin-Simmons. The second-ranked Cowgirls (19-0-0) play Principia (Ill.) (15-6-0) in the other opening round game. The winners advance to Sunday's second round, slated for 1 p.m.
The 63-team NCAA tournament continues with the round of 16 and quarterfinals, to be played Nov. 19-20 or Nov. 20-21, at sites to be determined. The NCAA Interactive Bracket is available online, which details the entire field and the opening matchups.
The NCAA Men's and Women's Soccer Semifinals and Championships will be held Dec. 3-4 at San Antonio's Blossom Soccer Stadium. Trinity and San Antonio Sports are co-hosts of the event for the second consecutive year.
Lance Key, in his seventh year as head coach, has now guided the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament six times. It marks Trinity's 16th overall trip to the NCAA postseason event.
Trinity also won its fifth Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship (10-0-0 record) under Coach Key, and 15th overall.
Last season, the Tigers came within one game of advancing to the semifinals, losing 4-2 on penalty kicks in an overtime quarterfinal game against Lynchburg (Va.) played at Trinity.
