Chris Schardon and Tommy Barros have been elected to the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Men's Scholar
All-South Region First Team.
Schardon (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands), a defender, is a
biochemistry major. He was earlier named to the NSCAA All-West
Region Team, to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
(SCAC) Second Team, and to the SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
He was a key member of the Tigers defense, which allowed only 18
goals during the season (.78 per game), and 62 shots on goal (2.70
per game).
Barros (San Antonio/Churchill), a forward, is a marketing and
Spanish major. He also was an All-SCAC First Team honoree. Barros
was third on the Tiger team in points, with 28. He chalked up 12
goals (two game-winners) and four assists during the campaign.
The Tigers, led by 20th-year Head Coach Paul McGinlay, completed
the 2010 season with a 19-3-1 record, and an 11-0-0 SCAC mark.
Trinity won its 14th SCAC Championship, and Coach McGinlay was
elected SCAC Coach of the Year for the 12th time. The Tigers
competed in their 14th NCAA Division III Tournament and advanced to
the third round.
Trinity emerged as the national scoring champion, with 86 goals
(3.74 per game).
