San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers men won their
third straight game with a 78-56 Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference victory Friday night over the Hendrix College Warriors
in Sams Gym.
Trinity, which scored a season-high in points and registered its
best winning streak of the campaign, improved to 9-11 and 6-6 SCAC,
taking over possession of fourth place in the conference's West
Division. Hendrix dropped to 6-12 and 3-9 SCAC. The Tigers beat the
Warriors 61-54 on Jan. 8 at Conway, Ark.
Junior forward Sam Dworkin of Portland, Ore. (Lincoln), came off
the bench to score a career high 17 points. Dworkin shot 7-8 from
the field, and 2-2 from 3-point range.
Senior center Peter Garatoni of San Antonio contributed 14
points, on 7-8 shooting. He also had seven rebounds and three
assists. Bryant Wilson, a senior forward from Dallas (Jesuit Prep),
scored 12 points, shooting 3-4 from the field and sinking all four
free throw attempts. Junior forward Luke Caldarera of Houston (Katy
Taylor), added 11 points and three steals. Senior guard Michael
Tobolowsky of Dallas (Greenhill School), rounded out the
double-figure scorers with 10 points, going 5-5 at the free throw
line.
Sophomore guard Ryan Beall of Santa Barbara, Calif. (Dos
Pueblos), led the game with eight rebounds (five points). Senior
guard Bart Taylor of San Antonio (St. Mary's Hall), dished out a
team-best four assists (five points).
Ammon Martin of Hendrix paced the Warriors with 14 points, and
Cal Rose added 13.
Trinity led 28-24 at halftime, but exploded in the second half
with 69 percent shooting, holding the visitors to just 38 percent
shooting. The Tigers outscored the Warriors 50-32 in the second
half.
The Tigers shot 56 percent in the game, and limited the Warriors
to 34 percent. Trinity held a 34-29 advantage in rebounding.
Trinity concludes its regular-season home schedule Sunday, by
hosting Millsaps in a SCAC game at 2 p.m.
