Tigers men's golf team has been ranked No. 22 by the latest
Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches' Division III Poll.
Trinity, previously ranked 24th, amassed 84 points in the poll.
The Tigers are just two points behind No. 21 Nebraska Wesleyan, and
six behind fellow SCAC member Centre, at No. 20. Trinity is 24
points ahead of California Lutheran, which stands in 23rd place.
Methodist is the leader with 375 points, Huntingdon (345) is
second, and Skidmore stands at No. 3 (334).
The Tigers have won two tournaments this season, including the
TLU ConCan Intercollegiate Classic, completed Tuesday at ConCan,
Texas. Trinity also won its Alamo City Classic last October, at
Spring Branch, Texas.
Senior Jonathan Alden of Austin, Texas (Westlake), won medalist
honors at the ConCan tournament, and the John Bohmann Memorial last
September in Seguin, Texas. Sophomore Ryan Barry of Del Mar, Calif.
(Torrey Pines), captured the Alamo City Classic individual title.
Trinity is led by head coach Carla Spenkoch, who works primarily
with the women's team. The assistant coach is Craig
McConnell, whose focus is on the men's squad.
The Tiger men and women will compete Friday through Sunday at
the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, at Jekyll Island, Ga.
Trinity's women won the Sen. Eddie Lucio Collegiate
Invitational in February at South Padre Island, Texas.
