Box Score Georgetown – The Trinity Tigers
women's golf team shot a final-round 370 Tuesday to finish in
sixth place at the Southwestern Invitational.
Trinity recorded a two-round total of 738 at the par-72 Berry
Creek Golf Course. The Tigers placed ahead of seventh-place
Concordia (851). Host Southwestern was the team winner (677), and
Texas-Tyler placed second (689). St. Mary's College (Ind.)
finished third (693), Mary Hardin-Baylor was fourth (703), and
LeTourneau came in at No. 5 (729).
Tiger senior Olivia Kotter of Akron, Ohio (Firestone), shot a
second-round 90, for a 176 total, and a tie for 12th
place. Senior Anne Wooton of Baltimore (Friends School) finished in
a tie for 19th, after shooting a 92 (182 total).
Junior Emma Herzog of Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch); and hometown
golfer Julia Orrange of Georgetown (Georgetown); tied for
28th place. Each player shot a 94, two strokes better
than the first round, and totaled 190.
Lisa Zampello, a junior from Kingwood, Texas (Kingwood),
had a 113, for a 211 total, and placed 37th.
Kristen Davenport of Southwestern chalked up a 79, for a 164
two-round total, to win medalist honors. Natalie Matuszak of St.
Mary's College shot 86 Tuesday, and was runner-up at
166.
The Tiger women will next compete April 23-25 at the SCAC
Championship, to be held at the Stone Mountain Golf Club in Stone
Mountain, Ga. Trinity's men, who will also compete in the
SCAC Championship, first will head to the West Region Championship
April 12-13 at the Teravista Golf Club in Round Rock, Texas.
