Tiger Women Ranked Fifth in NSCAA Preseason Poll

Box Score

San Antonio - Trinity's women's soccer team has been ranked fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III preseason poll.

The Tigers finished the 2009 season with a record of 18-0-1, and just missed advancing to the NCAA Semifinals.

Returning for the 2010 season are 16 players from last year, including eight Tiger starters.  Among the key returning players is All-American Danika Wright, who was also named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Year.  Leading scorer Abigail Loar is also back for the Tigers, following a 15-goal season that included six game-winners.  SCAC Newcomer of the Year Lindsay Euers also returns for her sophomore season.

The Tigers begin the campaign Sept. 1 on the road in nearby Seguin, by taking on Texas Lutheran. A Sept. 4 matchup in Abilene, Texas, will pit the Tigers against No. 13 Hardin-Simmons. Trinity opens play at home Sept. 7 against Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Lance Key enters his seventh season as Trinity's head women's soccer coach, having compiled a record of 88-13-10 in his first six years.  Key earned his third SCAC Coach of the Year award last season, and was also named the NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year.  He has led the Tigers to the NCAA Playoffs five times in his career, including two trips to the NCAA Quarterfinals (2005, 2009).
