Box Score San Antonio - Trinity's women's soccer team has
been ranked fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America Division III preseason poll.
The Tigers finished the 2009 season with a record of 18-0-1, and
just missed advancing to the NCAA Semifinals.
Returning for the 2010 season are 16 players from last year,
including eight Tiger starters. Among the key returning
players is All-American Danika Wright, who was also named the SCAC
Defensive Player of the Year. Leading scorer Abigail Loar is
also back for the Tigers, following a 15-goal season that included
six game-winners. SCAC Newcomer of the Year Lindsay Euers
also returns for her sophomore season.
The Tigers begin the campaign Sept. 1 on the road in nearby
Seguin, by taking on Texas Lutheran. A Sept. 4 matchup in Abilene,
Texas, will pit the Tigers against No. 13 Hardin-Simmons. Trinity
opens play at home Sept. 7 against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Lance Key enters his seventh season as Trinity's head women's
soccer coach, having compiled a record of 88-13-10 in his first six
years. Key earned his third SCAC Coach of the Year award last
season, and was also named the NSCAA West Region Coach of the
Year. He has led the Tigers to the NCAA Playoffs five times
in his career, including two trips to the NCAA Quarterfinals (2005,
2009).
