Box Score San Antonio – The 17th-ranked Trinity
Tigers women swept the top weekly soccer awards from the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Junior forward Abby Loar was
named SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and junior
defender Allyson
Thrall was selected as SCAC Defensive Co-Player of the
Week.
The Tigers (6-1-0, 2-0-0 SCAC) began defense of their SCAC title
with road victories last week over Hendrix (5-0) and Rhodes
(2-1).
Loar, from Littleton, Colo. (Heritage), scored three goals and
registered two assists in the two games. She accounted for both
game-winning goals, and either scored or assisted on five of the
seven Tigers scoring plays. For the season, Loar is tied for the
team lead with three goals and three assists, for a total of nine
points.
Thrall, from Scottsdale, Ariz. (Chaparral), led the taut Tiger
defense which allowed just one goal and five shots over the
weekend. Trinity yielded just one shot in the shutout victory over
Hendrix. This season, Trinity has posted three shutouts and given
up seven goals.
The Tigers travel to Georgetown, Texas, Saturday for a 2 p.m. SCAC
game with Southwestern. Trinity will host Mary Hardin-Baylor at 7
p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, in a non-conference game at the Trinity Soccer
Field. The game was postponed from Sept. 7 because of wet field
conditions.
