Box Score San Antonio - The fifth-ranked Trinity Tiger
men's soccer team scored three first-half goals in a 4-1 Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference victory against Southwestern
University on Friday night.
Trinity, the defending conference champion, remained unbeaten at
10-0-2 and 5-0-0 SCAC. Southwestern dropped to 6-6-1 and 3-2-0
SCAC.
Josh Adams led the way for the Tigers with a pair of goals -
including his sixth game-winner of the season. Adams, who has a
team-best 14 goals to his credit, combined with Zach Garcia for the
first goal of the night, in the 17th minute of play.
Garcia then scored in the 27th minute, and was assisted by Aaron
Olson. Denny Mask gave the Tigers a 3-0 halftime lead with a goal
in the 44th minute, on an assist by C.H. Farmer.
Adams scored Trinity's only goal in the second half, as Darren
McAfee assisted him in the 51st minute. Southwestern's Thomas Davis
scored in the 80th minute for the Pirates' lone goal of the
game.
Trinity goalkeeper Matt Cardone allowed one goal, and made two
critical saves with the score just 2-0 in favor of the
Tigers.
Trinity will host Colorado College at 7 p.m. next Friday in a
SCAC game, then will face Hendrix College on Sunday, October
23.
