Sherman, Texas - The third-ranked Trinity
Tigers women scored two second-half goals and shut out the Austin
College Kangaroos 2-0 in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
game Friday.
Trinity, the defending conference champion, stayed undefeated at
17-0-0 and 7-0-0 SCAC. Austin College now stands at 6-8-1 and 2-3-1
SCAC.
The first half of the game was a defensive effort by both teams.
Tiger goalkeeper Katie Garrett made her one save just 11 seconds
into the matchup. Trinity had five shots on target in the opening
half.
Then, in the 61st minute of play, Hannah Kuhl recorded her first
game-winner of the season, and was assisted by Mariah Risk. Abby
Loar made it 2-0 Trinity by scoring in the 74th minute, with the
assist from Katy Lipscomb. Loar now has 17 goals this season, and
along with 10 assists, has chalked up a team second-best 44
points.
Loar became Trinity's all-time leading scorer after Monday's 7-0
home win over Huston-Tillotson. The senior has now scored 54 goals
in her career, and leads the record book in points, with 141.
The Tigers led the 'Roos 36-3 in total shots, and were 14-1 on
goal.
Trinity concludes its regular-season campaign Sunday with a noon
SCAC game at Irving, Texas, against the University of Dallas. The
Tigers will then compete Nov. 4-5 at the SCAC Tournament at
Birmingham, Ala., with a bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs at
stake.
