Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers will defend
their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title as the No. 1
seed in the SCAC Men's Soccer Tournament next Friday through Sunday
at Birmingham, Ala.
It marks the first time the SCAC has utilized a postseason
tournament format since 1992.
Trinity (14-0-2, 9-0-0 SCAC), ranked fifth in the NCAA Division
III, has been awarded a first-round bye in the six-team event, and
will take on the winner of host Birmingham--Southern, seeded
fourth, and No. 5 Centre at 5 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals.
Birmingham-Southwern and Centre meet in the opening round at 5 p.m.
Friday.
Oglethorpe, the No. 2 seed, plays the winner of No.3 Colorado
College and sixth-seeded Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. in the
semifinals. Colorado College and Southwestern will tangle in the
first round at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Sunday's championship game is slated for 1:30 p.m., with the winner
guaranteed a slot in the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Trinity, led by head coach Paul McGinlay, has captured 14 SCAC
Championships overal, including 13 over the past 15 years.
