Box Score Seguin, Texas -- Senior guard Ryan Beall poured
in a game-high 26 points to lead the Trinity Tigers men past the
Texas Lutheran Bulldogs 71-63 on Tuesday night.
Trinity improved its record to 3-1, while Texas Lutheran dropped
to 0-2.
Beall shot 10-14 from the field, hit 3-4 from three-point range,
made a game-high five steals, and dished out three assists in the
winning effort.
Robert Kitzinger scored 12 points (6-6 from the foul line), and
Jonathan Wilt added nine points and eight rebounds.
The Tigers shot over 58 percent in the first half, and led the
Bulldogs 35-26 at the intermission. The Bulldogs were limited to 39
percent first-half shooting from the field.
Texas Lutheran came out strong in the second half, taking a
44-43 lead with 11:39 on the clock. But the Tigers used a 16-5 run
to pull ahead 10 points (59-49) at the 5:14 mark. The Bulldogs
closed to 55-59 at 3:45, but Trinity held on for the win.
Isaac Williams led TLU with 24 points and nine rebounds, while
Matthew Agonis contributed 14 points.
Trinity shot 53.3 percent (24-45) from the field, and 44.4
percent (8-18) from three-point range. Texas Lutheran hit 41.9
percent (26-62) and 36.4 percent (8-22) respectively. The Bulldogs
held a 34-29 edge in rebounding.
The Tigers go on the road to Ashland, Va., Friday and Saturday for
the Yellow Jacket Classic at Randolph-Macon. Trinity takes on
Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m. ET Friday, and Randolph-Macon at 4 p.m.
ET Saturday.
