Box Score San Antonio - The fourth-ranked Trinity men's
soccer team received an at-large bid to the playoffs and will host
an NCAA Division III second-round game on Sunday afternoon at 1
p.m.
Trinity (14-1-2) will play the winner of Texas-Tyler (15-2-2)
and Oglethorpe (17-3-0). The two teams will meet Thursday in Tyler,
in the opening round of the 61-team tournament.
Tickets, priced according to the minimums set by the NCAA, are
$6 for general admission, $3 for students (with ID) and seniors
(age 55 and over), and $2 for children ages 3-12. Children age two
and under will be admitted free. Tickets may be purchased at the
gates, which will open 90 minutes prior to the start time. Only
cash will be accepted for payment.
The tournament continues the weekend of Nov. 18-20, at sectional
sites to be determined. Trinity will co-host, with San Antonio
Sports, the NCAA Men's and Women's Soccer Championships semifinals
and finals Dec. 2-3 at Blossom Soccer Stadium.
The Tigers are led by head coach Paul McGinlay, in his 21st year
at Trinity's helm. This will mark the Tigers 15th NCAA Tournament,
and 10th in a row.
Last year, the Tigers hosted the first two NCAA rounds,
defeating Pacific (Ore.) 3-1 in the opener. Trinity took the second
round, 4-2 on penalty kicks, following a 0-0 tie with Texas-Tyler.
In the sectional round (Trinity's seventh appearance) at
Delaware, Ohio, Lynchburg upset the top-ranked Tigers 2-0.
Trinity captured the NCAA Division III Championship by defeating
Drew in 2003, and was runner-up to Middlebury in 2007.
